Mendelssohn Does Not Live Here Anymore
A drama based on historical documents and Third Reich sources
Interweaves a sophisticated Jewish family, descendants of Felix Mendelssohn, and a German couple grappling with music forbidden during the Third Reich. Tying their stories together: a chest filled with classical German music, including Mendelssohn’s, auctioned when the Rosens get deported to Auschwitz in this heart-wrenching battle of music versus ideology. (5M, 3W, possible doubling, three sets, 2 interior, 1 exterior)
Metronome Ticking
